NDA

NDA stands for National Defence Academy. You can join NDA by taking the exam conducted twice a year by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). You can be part of the Indian Air Force by applying for NDA (National Defence Academy).

Height & Weight

  • Height: 157 cms  (162.5 cms for Air Force)
  • Weight: Proportionate to the height and age.
    Note:
    For Gorkhas and individual belonging to hills of North- Eastern region of India, Garhwali and Kumaon, the minimum acceptable height will be 5 cms less. In case of candidates from Lakshadweep, the minimum acceptable height will be by 2 cms less.
     

Training


  • Rigorous three-year training at the National Defence Academy at Khadakwasla. This training is followed by a specialized flying training of one and half years at Air Force Academy.
  • On successful completion, they are Commissioned as Permanent Commission Officers and posted as pilots at any of the Air Force Stations. 

Pay And Allowances

  • During Training: Stipend of Rs. 21,000/- p.m.(Rs. 15,600/- as pay in Pay Band plus Grade Pay of Rs. 5,400/-)
  • On Commissioning:Pay-Band                     :       Rs.15,600-39,100/- (PB-3)
    Grade Pay                    :       Rs.5,400/-
    Military Service Pay        :       Rs.15,500/-

Joining Instructions

  • The eligible candidates shall be issued an e-Admit Card three weeks before the commencement of the examination. The e-Admit Card can be downloaded from UPSC website (upsc.gov.in). No Admit Card will be sent by post.
  • Admission to the above courses will be made on the results of the written examination followed by SSB Interview of candidates who qualify in the written examination.

Scheme of NDA Entrance Examination

1. The subjects of the written examination, the time allowed and the maximum marks allotted to each subject will be as follows:

2. The papers in all the subjects will consist of objective type questions. The question papers (Test Booklets) will be bilingual i.e. English followed by its Hindi translation except where test of language is involved.

3. The candidates are not permitted to use calculator or Mathematical or logarithmic table for answering objective type papers (Test Booklets).
4. Each question will have four optional answer candidates have to choose the right one only.
5. There will be negative marking for incorrect response in the objective type questions.
